Chocolate Chip Cookies

I just fixed these yesterday! I got this recipe from our Home teacher, His wife would send him with cookies, they always looked and tasted so good. Which has always been a problem with recipes I have used in the past either they tasted good or looked good but NOT both. So here you go. This is my FAVORITE chocolate chip cookie recipe!!!!!!

1 1/2 cups butter or margarine

1 1/4 cups sugar

1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla

2 large eggs

4 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

4 cups (2 regular sized bags) semi-sweet chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees 2. Mix butter, sugars, vanilla, and eggs in large bowl 3. Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt 4. Stir in chocolate chips 5. Drop onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 9-11 mins. (the Sister that gave me this recipe says it only took 8 min, in her oven it took 12 in mine) This recipe make alot!

Happy baking! Let me know if you try it and what you think!

Do you use butter or margarine?? I know it says either one, but it changes the texture based on what you use. In my experience, margarine makes cookies more cake-like and butter makes them flatter and more chewy.

ok I just made these and they are pretty much amazing! I went with real butter-FYI----which is a must use in cookies at our house!

I just made these cookies yesterday. Our neighbor fixed our garage for free for us since that is what he does for a living (well we had to buy the parts), so I made these for him to say thank you. My husband said these are really good! I used margarine because that is what I had. 15 minutes after dropping of the cookies are neighbor came over and said they were the best cookies he ever had and oiled up our garage for us and said he would bring us a can of our own oil. I'm pretty picky about my cookies and am usually not happy with how they looked but they turned out great. Thanks Laura!

I made these this last weekend to go along with a dinner I took to a sister who just had a baby. Loved them!! So good. Lets just say that i decided to not even bother putting the recipe away, it is now taped to the inside of my cupboard door (you know its good when it ends up there) right by my roll recipe and the laundry soap recipe!! Good find!!! oh yeah and I used real butter, I agree with what Melissa said "its a must use" in cookies!!

I always struggle with cookies, so I'd like to know cookie tips people have, like how to have them turn out soft and chewy (which is how I like them) and not get flat. I'd like some pointers. I have found that if you put a piece a bread in the container you store the cookies in that helps to keep/make them soft.
